1951年設立以来、タンカー専業船社として150隻の船団とともに内航・外航事業を展開し、石油・ケミカル製品類の輸送を中心に、日本のエネルギーインフラを支えてきました。2022年3月、世界初のEVタンカー（電気推進タンカー）を竣工。エネルギーの安定・安全輸送だけでなく、脱炭素社会に向けた新たな海運業の実現にも取り組んでいます。

“Since its establishment in 1951, Asahi Tanker has operated domestic and international shipping businesses with a fleet of 150 vessels. As a tanker specialist, we have supported Japan’s energy infrastructure with a focus on the transport of petroleum and chemical products. In March 2022, Asahi Tanker delivered the world’s first EV tanker (electric propulsion tanker), working not only for the stable and safe transportation of energy, but also for the realization of a new shipping industry for a decarbonized society.”

瀬戸内海における豊富な島ネットワークを活かし、地域と連携しながら本プロジェクトを推進。瀬戸内海の豊かな海と多島海文化を継承すべく、島の生業づくりに取り組みます。

編集者、聞き取りスト。2010年瀬戸内海の島専門出版社「ROOTS BOOKS」設立。これまでに訪れた瀬戸内海の有人島は100島以上。瀬戸内海の島のスペシャリストとして、2019年株式会社SETOUCHI SEAWINDを設立。情報発信のみならず、チャーター船を使った島旅の企画等を手がける。

まちづくり専門家。2011年より高松丸亀町商店街振興組合の理事として都市再開発事業に従事。地域の都市経営課題に即した公民連携事業の立ち上げを得意とする。年間200回を超える講演や商品開発など、日本はもとよりフィリピンなどアジア地域でも活動中。

The only “Island Travel Specialists” in the Setouchi Sea
We are actively working on this project in close collaboration with the local community, harnessing the rich island network in the Setouchi Sea. We will work to create a rich island livelihood to preserve the richness of the Seto Inland Sea and its multi-island marine culture.

● Chizuko Konishi (Representative Director)
Editor and interviewer. Established ROOTS BOOKS, a publishing company specializing in the islands of the Setouch Sea. She has visited more than 100 inhabited islands in the Setouchi Sea. She established SETOUCHI SEAWIND Inc. in 2019 as an islands specialist. She is also undertaking the transmission of information and the planning of charter boat tours of the many islands.

● Kimio Kuma
Urban development expert. Since 2011, he has been involved in urban redevelopment projects, directing the Takamatsu Marugamemachi Shopping District Promotion Association. He specializes in launching public-private sector partnership projects that address local urban management issues. He is active in Japan as wells as other areas in Asia such as the Philippines, giving over 200 lectures a year and working on a wide range of product development projects.

ブルーカーボン（海藻生態系）の専門家として、瀬戸内海の島々に合わせた藻場増殖の手法をアドバイス。多島海ならではの藻場づくりの「瀬戸内モデル」を構築します。

福岡県在住。海藻研究者（専⾨は藻類増殖学・環境保全学）。東京⽔産⼤学⼤学院修了。40年以上にわたり、国内外の海に潜って藻場などを調査。現在も年間250⽇以上潜り、海藻調査を行なっている。海藻と動物の相互作⽤を主要研究テーマとし、⻑年藻⾷⿂の⾷害による磯焼けの研究に取り組む。その対策として「海底造園」の造成やアカモクの商品化、天敵の⿂を増やすことによるエチゼンクラゲの駆除、間伐材⿂礁の開発など実績多数。

Seaweed bed researcher

As experts in blue carbon (seaweed ecosystems), we advise on seaweed bed propagation methods tailored to the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Our mission is to create the “Setouchi Model” of seaweed bed creation technique that is unique to the multi-island sea.

●Shogo Arai (Representative Director)
Seaweed researcher based in Fukuoka Prefecture specializing in algae propagation and environmental conservation. He has been diving and surveying seaweed beds for over 40 years both in and out of Japan, and continues to dive over 250 days a year. His main research theme is the interaction between seaweeds and animals, and he has been studying the effects of long-standing seaweed damage. He has developed a number of countermeasures such as underwater landscaping, commercialization of red algae, control of harmful jellyfish population by increasing their natural preditor fish, and development of reefs made of recycled timber from forest thinning.

島での暮らしで大事なのはエネルギーです。自然エネルギーなら自立できます。初期投資を回収したあとは、ずっとエネルギーがタダで使えます。そういった動きを実際に作っていきたいです。

Energy is an important part of island life. With natural renewable energy, self-sufficiency is achievable. Once startup funds are recovered, energy can be used for free for the foreseeable future. Our mission is to realize such a movement.

●Masayoshi Takeuchi (Representative Director)
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture in 1962. Co-chairman of MIKAN. Professor at Tohoku University of Art & Design. Representative Director of Energy Town Planning Company. Specialized in eco-towns at the School of Urban Management. Writes mainly about energy and architecture. Author of “Illustrated Eco House,” “New House Building Textbook,” “Nuclear Power Plants and Architects”.
